I wanted to give everyone a quick update. Really there are only two things I wanted to tell you about.
The first is, I’m on a diet. That seems like no big deal, but for those who know me well, you know that it absolutely is. I eat like a 10 year old (PB & J + Mac & Cheese please!) and it’s no bueno.
This is what an average lunch looks like for me…
For a long time my wife has lovingly (and sometimes not so lovingly) pushed me to eat healthier. Recently, several guys at our church began a diet that would push them to eliminate the things we become addicted to (carbs, sugars, etc.). After talking to my friend Derek about it I was stirred. He spoke of how much mental clarity he had and how much better he felt. I usually fill myself full of all kinds of itos…fritos, cheetos, doritos and it’s all trash.
For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me. (Colossians 1:29)
Paul writes this after he expresses his goal for ministering to the Church. I think so often I don’t fuel myself to do the things I want to do. So I will be for the next 30 days fighting for more energy. I’m not eating gluten, dairy, or processed sugar. I barely eat fruit let alone veggies, so this will be a challenge. But something drastic needs to be done. So pray for me that I will continue to fight to be healthy and serve well. That I will seek God to give me energy but that I would also realize he provides us with the means to fuel ourselves.
If you wanna follow along you can see my wife Hannah’s instagram account. She will be using the hashtag #glossonsgogreen to talk about our dieting journey.
The second thing is, I am launching a podcast.
Come mid to late June I will be introducing, The Good Creature Podcast. As I continue to blog I realize that one of the mediums I enjoy most is podcasts. There are so many unique and entertaining podcasts out there (look for an upcoming blog on some of my favorites) and I wanted to join in that arena. The goal will be to examine good creatures: art, culture, music, food, drink, etc. all through a theological lens. My hope is to have interesting conversations, to tell good stories, and to share what I am learning. I will continue to blog and I hope to tie the two together.
So that’s it. I hope all is well. Thanks for staying up to date.
